Characters in Love!
Each day will feature a different fictional character from various books and genres, and a personal interview about their love lives. It's sure to be enlightening, and if you find yourself dying to know more about them, pick up a copy of the the book!
Today, let's welcome Bradley Blackhorse Reynolds from Broken Bonds:
1. Please tell us a
little about yourself.
My name is Bradley Blackhorse Reynolds, and I'm a major in
the Terran Federation Guard. I was assigned the post of Commander of the
Federation base on Aleyne after I defended one of the men under my command who
broke the anti-psi laws.
2. How/where did you
first meet your love interest?
At the reception welcoming me to the post of commander of
the Federation base on Aleyne. I met Ardaval Namar, an Aleyni. He realized at
once I was an empath and could read thoughts, at least occasionally. Psi of any
kind is illegal for Terrans, so I was both terrified that I might be caught and
punished and elated that at last someone discovered the real me.
3. Was it love (or
attraction) at first sight?
Yes. I wanted to kiss him, but there were too many people,
both Terran and Aleyni, for me to do it. We did take a walk outside, which was
already chancy, but I couldn't resist. He assured me we'd meet again, which was
the only thing that allowed me to let him go.
4. When did you know
for certain that you were in love?
A few weeks later, I suppose. There was a lot going on,
terrorists attacking the computer network and pushing drugs. It didn't leave a
lot of time for me to devote to my personal life. Still, I'd made a vow twenty
years ago not to turn away from love, so I was bound and determined to see
where my relationship with Ardaval would
go.
5. Have you done
anything to compromise your love (or vice versa)?
I don't want to give away the plot of the novel, but yes.
both of us did.
6. Has anyone ever
come between you?
Ardaval has/had former partners, and he still had feelings
for them. He'd formed what's called by the Aleyni a rolor bond, which is an
unbreakable psychic bond. He and his ex-partners had attempted to break it,
with limited success. It left him with a deeply wounded spirit. And one of his
former partners, Imarin, was deeply in love with Arda and determined to get him
back.
7. If you could take
your lover on the perfect date, where would that be?
Now I'm stumped. Perhaps to hear a wonderful concert by a
famous musician.
8. Is there anything
your lover does that completely annoys you?
When he's working, he throws his books and papers on the
library floor, leaving me or someone else to pick them up. Some of the
manuscripts are old and valuable, but he does it anyway.
9. What's the biggest
challenge you've faced together as a couple?
Being wrenched apart when I was accused of treason and
hauled away to New Oregon without the chance to tell Ardaval what was going on.
The Guard sent him a message that I'd been reassigned, and he almost believed
them.
10. Is there a
happily ever after in store for you?

My pleasure! :)
DeleteHi Brad,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being made commander, and the fact that you met Ardval at the reception. Sounds like those psychic bonds would be hard to break.
I sincerely hope your story has a happy ending.
Leona, thanks for stopping by. Read the book to find out if Ardaval and I remain together.
DeleteCertainly the romance and relationships in this book are not what we might expect, but they work, and the feelings among the people involved are very believable. Brad, I wish you the best, and Maggie I think you for a wonderful story.
