Jody Vitek, author of Texas Two Step
Thank you, Mysti, for hosting the Melange authors on your
blog this month. I have so many things to be thankful for but this year, I am
thankful for life. Not my own in particular, don’t get me wrong, I am thankful
for my own life and the journey it’s taking me on.
This year I’m thankful for my father’s life. He found out,
after waiting too long to see his doctor, he had a tumor in his rectum. Further
testing led to Chemo therapy and radiation treatments to shrink the tumor. I
was informed that the tumor wasn’t cancerous, but early this fall when he underwent
surgery to remove the tumor, I was shocked to hear the doctor use the words
‘remove all of the cancer.’ All this time I thought my dad didn’t have cancer,
when in actuality he did. Surgery was a success and I am proud to share that he
is now cancer free.
This brought me to thinking about my time with my father,
all the things he taught me without knowing, and for this, I am thankful for
having him in my life.
