An Interview with Author Anna James, Take Two!

Buy it HERE!
I bet you guys were wondering what I'd done with the author interviews. Well, I'm happy to report that I've actually got some double takes scheduled. Yes indeedy.

Today, Ms. Anna James is back. You may remember her first interview with me HERE. She's just released a new erotic, contemporary, paranormal romance novella entitled Visions from Sugar and Spice Press. Click on the linky below the cover to order your copy.

***Anna will be giving away one .pdf of Visions to one lucky winner. Just leave a comment here with your email for a chance to win. I'll draw a winner next Monday!***

But first, let's get the scoop on this new release. Welcome back, Anna! Tell us about Visions. What's the story about?

Visions is a contemporary / paranormal romance novella. The story revolves around Prudence Baily who has just learned that the woman she has always believed to be her mother is, in fact, a distant relative who adopted her when she was four years old after her father had brutally murdered her mother then killed himself.

Shortly after learning the truth Pru experiences a reoccurring nightmare in which a woman is brutally murdered. Is she experiencing a vision or reliving the past? She has no memories of her early childhood but instinct tells her she must to return to Salem, Massachusetts, her birth place, to solve the mystery.

Almost immediately upon her return she meets Detective Matt Cavanaugh, her neighbor. Matt is gorgeous and sexy and Pru is instantly attracted to him. Matt is also linked to her past. His father, now a retired police officer, was first on the scene the night of her parents’ deaths.

Pru soon realizes that the circumstances surrounding her parents’ deaths are not as they seem. The facts don’t add up. And when a recent murder that Matt is investigating is linked to the past they discover that Pru is right and the killer is still on the loose.

Will they discover the killer’s identity in time or will history repeat itself?

I love paranormal stuff, but I've never really had any personal experiences in it. Do you believe in and have you ever experienced anything paranormal like the heroine in this story?

I've never really had a paranormal experience but I can say that sometimes I get these feelings, like I wake up in the morning and I feel that something really good is going to happen and low and behold it does!

Since this is your second time here, I'm going to be naughty and throw more random questions at you. Get your mitt. Let's go!

What is your favourite TV show of all time, one you can watch it over and over again and quote lines from?

That one is easy, it's Charmed.

What did you want to be when you were little and did you imagine you'd be doing what you're doing now?

I think I wanted to be an actress when I was a kid. As for imagining what I'm doing now, when I was in high school I did want to go into Communications, it's kind of like marketing, which is what I do now. What I can tell you is I never imagined myself as a writer until about ten years ago. I hated reading when I was younger but now I love it.

The first thing that Anna does when she wakes up is.....?

Let my new puppy out of his crate and take him outside. Then he eats breakfast and we go for a walk. Coffee doesn't usually happen until I get to work.

The floor of your bedroom closet is covered with....?

Shoes, shoes and oh, did I mention shoes?

Telemarketers--do you talk to them or hang up promptly?

I do my best to be polite but if they keep on going after I've said no then I hang up.

Who's your favorite Muppet?

Miss Piggy! She's too funny.

Phew, those were fun! Let's get back to business and whet your readers' appetites with a lovely excerpt from Visions.

Prologue

Sweat trickled down the sides of her face. Her eyes were huge with fear and tremors racked her body. “No! Please don’t.” Prudence Bailey could hear the terror in the woman’s voice as she begged for her life. Someone came toward the woman; he was holding a knife. Or was it a she? Pru couldn’t tell from this angle. She saw the woman’s arms shoot up to try and ward off her attacker. It was a futile attempt. He overpowered her easily. Then it happened. The knife plunged deep into her chest. The screams were terrifying. She saw the woman crumple but it wasn’t over. The knife plunged into the woman again and again. Finally, the screaming stopped.

Pru shot straight up in bed. She too was drenched with sweat and her body shook with fear. This was the third night this week that she’d had the nightmare. It was the same each time. She pulled the blankets aside and got out of bed. Why is this happening to me? she wondered as she went down the stairs to double check that the windows and doors were locked. She didn’t know but she was sure as hell going to find out.

Thank you very much for reappearing on Unwritten, Anna.  I hope to see even more of you very soon and I wish you much success!

  6. Anna,

I LOVE paranormal stories! Visions has an interesting plot. I can't wait to read the story and find out what really happened to her parents! Oh, and my girls and I used to quote Charmed...and Buffy...and Angel...and Farscape. Now it's Fringe and Haven. Wow, that's a lot of t.v.!!! Good thing we all read to offset the screen time! =D

  11. Hi Anna,

The prelude to the book sounds wonderful and exciting. I can't wait to read what really happened to Prudence's family also.
I still watch the reruns of Charmed. The Halliwell sisters were quite something else.
Phoebe was always my favorite. I so wanted her and Cole to get there crap together.

Oh well then there was Coop. I'm so glad Phoebe found love.
