J is for Jealousy by Raven McAllan

Welcome to Unwritten's little corner of the the A-Z Blogging Challenge! If you want to see the whole lineup, click HERE!

Jealousy in romance is like salt in food. A little can enhance the savor, but too much can spoil the pleasure and, under certain circumstances, can be life-threatening.  ~Maya Angelou

Ever been jealous? Ooo, lots of hands raised. I think jealousy is one of those emotions that crosses our daily routine more than we care to admit. We are quick to admit when we're angry, sad, or happy, but jealousy is harder to come to terms with. Perhaps it makes us look weak. Let's see what author Raven McAllan says about it, along with a few other J words to cool our jets!

J is for...Jealousy

Not a pleasant trait, but surely one we all have at some time or another?

Can you honestly say you have never experienced those green eye feelings?

Will Young—(sing along now) …and it feels like jealousy…

Yeah those daggers of envy—for anything from a hot boyfriend or girlfriend/new car/dress/best seller—we've all had it and most of us would grit our teeth and deny it.

It's human nature.

John Lennon— (sing again, come on all together) …I'm just a jealous guy…

Wish it wasn't, not nice feeling so pissy, but …

Frankie Miller— (Loudly please)…jealousy can't you see, I love you more than you love me…
And so on.

So no more … well not now, let's go for a happy J. June, July… in the northern hemisphere, January below the equator—hopefully summer. Hot bods, Barbeques, ice cold juice; and well just perfect.

Sadly not often in Scotland, more likely to be warm Jumpers and thick Jerseys lol.

So as we sit and shiver… oh dear the 'J' word rears its ugly head again.

Bryan Adams—(last time honestly so sing) …Oh jealousy, coming over me…

Once you accept you will get the green eyed nasties at times, and let it roll though you, roll it over and spit it out, you'll be fine.

So let's move on to something nicer.

Just how nice it is to be an author? That great feeling, when, for the first time, upon being asked your occupation, you proudly answer "Author" Just perfect.

And sorry that brings me back to the "'J' word again. Other people's reactions to your published work.

I bet all of us would be rich if we had a dollar for everytime  someone said they always thought they'd write a book. Or worse diss a genre. Usually romance. So, go do it then, do not talk about it, do it. It is not easy—in any genre.

As the great Irish author James Joyce ( see "'J' x 2 there clever eh? ) said…

Writing in English is the most ingenious torture ever devised for sins committed in
previous lives.

And as Lyndon Johnson said…Son, in politics you've got to learn that overnight
chicken shit can turn to chicken salad. Which is sort of about the 'J' word.

Jerome K. Jerome… just because I like it and he gives us 2 'J's…Idleness, like kisses,
to be sweet must be stolen.

Now it has to be said I write quite juicy stuff, so no there aren't going to be any
excerpts on here.

However, may I introduce you to a new YA author J. Lilley? (see there's the 'J' again)

Her series of  six YA books, The Shalean Moon, are to be published by Lycaon Press. DISCOVERED

When Rach moved to Scotland she knew there would be changes. She hadn't expected them to be quite so dramatic. Not only was there a new house, new school and new friends, there was also a secret to discover.
Brios Parde was a Patriarch in waiting. When the powerful leopard shifter senses a new Shalean he is amazed to discover it's the new girl. All his senses tell him Rach will be important to him.
However the Rogues try to destroy the budding relationship. Will Rach decide to side with Brios or help stage an uprising?

 RENOUNCED
Donny and Leira had known each other forever.
But Leira is not prepared to let Donny decide her fate for her. She will chose her mate and it's not that annoying leopard. However, when danger closes in all around them, threatening the very heart of Shalea, Leira has a decision to make.
Donny has always known Leira was the one for him. Convincing her is another matter. When his loyalties are tested and danger abounds, can he stand back and let Leira chose for herself?
Will they have a future together?

ACCEPTED
Andy is Shalean and in love with a human, but had no idea how to make such a relationship work.
Sam has no idea that Shalea exists, only that he is fed up waiting for Andy to make the most move. Overjoyed to find his feelings reciprocated Sam starts seeing strange things.
Something is afoot and Andy seems right in the middle of it.
What Sam discovers rocks him to the core. But he is determined to fight for their chance of happiness. Human he may be, but as long as Andy wants him, they can face anything, can't they?

  5. Jealous -- a word tossed about as if harmless at times but at the core of some nasty emotional energy -- yeah, best to be aware and counter with its opposite - admiration, love, congratulations

    Nice post
